Hands Down This Is One Of The Best Alley-Oops You'll Ever See
In the event that you were actually out living your life and enjoying summer yesterday, there’s a chance you missed this play from the Miami Pro League. Seeing as how this is one of the most ridiculous alley oop passes I’ve ever seen, I figured I would make sure you saw it as well. The man who threw it, Briante Weber, has made a handful of NBA appearances since 2015, most recently with HOU/MEM in 2017-18 and is essentially a lock down defensive point guard. In the G-League he’s a monster, averaging 2.9 steals a night in 33 games last year but I certainly wasn’t expecting something like that to be in his bag. To pull this off so flawlessly on your initial try in live game action is rather impressive, and immediately after seeing it I thought of a similar play we actually got at the NBA level from Lob City
As nasty as that Jamal Crawford pass was, it still doesn’t stack up to what we saw yesterday in my opinion. To me, plays like that are why this time of year is so much fun. We have AAU kids dunking their faces off, and fringe NBA players pulling off crazy shit like it’s nothing. We’re all itching for basketball to start up again, and what better way to scratch that itch than to see plays you didn’t know were possible? The creativity, the execution, all of it was impressive as hell.
Now for the dunker Derrick Jones Jr of the Miami Heat, his 360 is nothing new. This man may be the best active dunkers in the NBA
and you knew once that play actually worked that he had to bring out the heat to finish it off. You can’t do a lame dunk after getting a lob like that, so the 360 was a nice touch. Stuff like this is why I love summer open runs, give me something I’ve never seen before and this certainly fit the bill.
